Late May/Early June Fishing Report and Lovely Ladies Fish-off

Tunas, Tunas, Tunas early am bite and late afternoon have been the catch for the charters between Hillsboro Inlet and Highland Beach. Also, small Mahis and a few Sailfish have been a welcomed catch.

We fished the Ladies Fish-off this past weekend and our featured fish was the Kingfish. I knew I had to catch my kings before I went tuna fishing. At least that was the plan. However, a NOT so lovely sea greeted us for a long haul to Jupiter to catch our four Kings. Problem was MR SHARK didn’t allow us to catch and run. We fed numerous nice kings to the sharks before we were finally able to put the 4th weigher in the boat and that left us short on time for a very long exhausting run south for our tuna opportunity. With a little over an hour left to fish I decided to stop off Highland Beach to finish our day. That plan was didn’t pan out and yielded one sailfish bite that we closed the day with my mother catching her 2nd Sailfish ever. 👍 We finished 11th place overall out of 50+ boats and weighed largest Bonita of the tournament at 22.7lbs for a nice little Calcutta bonus. Next time I’ll stick to my local knowledge LOL

Let’s go get a BITE and get Tight!

Fishing is starting to SPRING into action. Kings have been biting inside the ledge between the steeple and Hillsboro Inlet. We had a monster “Yellowfin” eat a runner off the kite, but couldn’t slow him down and ended up burning him off. We’ve been getting at least one sailfish per charter and the Blackfin tunas are starting to show up with a couple bites per day. Frontal system coming through this weekend should bring some more sailfish action. Next week fishing should really start picking up with a consistent East wind, back side of the moon, and last frontal system of the year pushing through. Get out and get tight!

12 for 16 sailfishing

12/16 sailfish yesterday for our afternoon pre-fish day.  Multiple boats catching over 10.  Let’s hope the bite stays hot through the week.
