South Florida Summer Mahi Fishing
Fishing for mahi mahi, otherwise known as dolphin (not the porpoise kind) in South Florida in the summer time can bring tons of action and reap huge benefits! If you have radar, excellent! That can cut your searching time significantly. Spin her up as soon as you reach a couple miles out heading east south east. Bait of choice for me is ballyhoo and Bonita strips. I always bring live bait “pilchards, goggle eyes or sardines” to entice the bigguns or any picky mahi that are no longer eating dead bait. South Florida Mahi fishing can be excellent. Make sure to head out EARLY because the South Florida heat sends them deep. Also, it’s very wise to bring a planer rod or “wire line” for anything deep. Especially if you find any floating debris, Wahoo love to hang in the depths. Any color lure works just make sure the bait is swimming “Life Like!” Go Gettum
